COACHING SITUATIONAL HOCKEY

Ty Newberry

This book examines 24 different scenarios that hockey coaches find themselves in on a regular basis. Coaches tend to attack these challenges in the same way each time. Our hope is to give you additional solutions to common problems we face.

Over 40 experienced coaches have contributed to this book. Many hail from North America; these coaches are currently or have recently been behind the bench at the NHL, AHL, ECHL, Major Junior, USHL, and NCAA (DI, DII and DIII) levels. Several coach prep schools and high schools across the country. We hear from women’s coaches, as well as coaches in sled hockey programs and special hockey programs. Coaches from programs in 10 different countries at the national, pro and youth level also share their experience.

Featured topics include: Team Mottos, Creating a Backchecking Culture, The Art of Shot Blocking, Addressing Playing Time, Coaching Staff Conflict, Handling Large Leads, Officials, Controlling Momentum, 2-on 1s, Struggling Power Play and more!
