Ty Newberry is a charismatic hockey coach and speaker with more than 30 years inspiring his audiences from youth to adults.
He addresses more than two thousand people each year in the US and abroad. From the locker room to the board room all enjoy his ability to engage and entertain them.
He masterfully distills complex topics into guideposts for impacting lives, helping others succeed, and personal satisfaction. His transformational approach to leadership helps people make a positive connection with everyone they encounter on a daily basis. Leadership Experience
Ty Newberry currently serves as the Executive Director of the Friends of Fort Dupont Ice Arena in Washington, DC, located in the middle of one of the most challenged and underserved neighborhoods in the city. Ty and his staff work hard to get kids off the street and put them on the ice.
This not-for-profit organization makes a positive impact on more than 3,000 inner-city kids each year through its Kids On Ice® programs. No child is turned away for inability to pay, all programming is subsidized, and many kids participate at no cost.
Through ice skating, hockey, speed skating and figure skating, kids learn valuable lessons about perseverance, hard work, and resilience. On-ice lessons are supplemented with off-ice enrichment opportunities such as a Study Buddies program, a community garden, mentoring, and international travel experiences.
Hockey Experience
Newberry began his coaching career in youth hockey at age 14, and has found great success at the youth, collegiate and international levels. Most recently, after a three-year tenure as an assistant coach of the Lithuanian men’s national team, Newberry accepted the position of Head Coach for all three international teams of the Israel Ice Hockey Federation.
